Privacy Policy

WaveMention provides social media analytics tools based on publicly available data. This Privacy Policy explains how we process data in connection with our platform.

1. What data we process

We process only publicly available data, including:

  • Usernames and public profile handles
  • Follower counts and visible profile metrics
  • Engagement data and activity visible on public profiles
  • Email addresses — only when a customer chooses to send an opt-in consent request to an individual

We do not process private messages, sensitive personal data, or original image/video files as a stored data layer.

2. Purpose of processing

We process data to provide analytics and insights to our customers, enabling them to monitor their own network of riders, ambassadors, creators, or team members, and to improve platform functionality.

3. Legal basis

Legitimate Interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — We rely on legitimate interest to provide analytics based on publicly available data. Individuals have meaningful opt-out rights.
Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) — Where a customer optionally requests permission from an individual before tracking their profile, processing is based on that individual's consent.

4. Data minimization & retention

We only store data necessary for analytics. We do not store original content such as images or videos. Data is retained only as long as necessary. When a profile is removed following an opt-out request, all associated data is deleted and the profile is permanently blocked from reprocessing.

5. User responsibilities

Customers decide which profiles to track and are responsible for ensuring their use of insights is lawful. WaveMention acts as a data processor on behalf of customers, who are the data controllers.

6. Rights of individuals

Any individual whose public profile may be included in WaveMention has the right to request removal, request information about how their public data is used, or object to processing at any time. Requests can be submitted at: wavemention.app/check-my-profile

7. Removal and opt-out

When a removal request is confirmed: all data associated with the profile is deleted, the profile handle is added to a permanent blacklist, and it will not be processed again by any customer on the platform.

8. Consent system (optional)

Customers may optionally request permission from individuals before tracking their profile. Consent is recorded with a timestamp and can be withdrawn at any time via a link provided in the original consent email. Withdrawal results in immediate removal from the platform.

9. Data access and security

Access to data is restricted to system processes and authorized personnel. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

10. Third-party platforms

WaveMention depends on external social media platforms for publicly available data. We are not responsible for changes in platform APIs, data availability, or access restrictions imposed by those platforms.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Terms of Service

By using WaveMention, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before creating an account or using the platform.

1. Nature of the service

WaveMention provides tools to analyze publicly available social media data. The platform processes only publicly available data, provides analytics and insights based on that data, and does not host, store, or distribute original content or provide access to private accounts.

2. No ownership of content

All data analyzed through WaveMention remains the property of the original profile owner and the respective social media platform. WaveMention provides derived analytical insights only and does not claim ownership over any content or data.

3. User responsibilities

By using WaveMention, you agree that:

  • You select which profiles to track and are responsible for those choices
  • You use the platform lawfully and in compliance with applicable data protection laws
  • You will only track profiles where you have a legitimate purpose and a valid legal basis
  • You will not use insights to make automated decisions with significant impact on individuals
  • You confirmed at signup that you have a legitimate relationship with the profiles you track

WaveMention is a tool. The customer is the data controller and bears responsibility for how the platform is used.

4. Opt-in consent option

Customers may optionally request permission from individuals before including their profile. WaveMention provides the infrastructure to send consent requests and record responses. The customer remains responsible for determining whether consent is required in their specific context.

5. Data accuracy

WaveMention does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or real-time availability of data. All insights are indicative and based on publicly available information retrieved at the time of scanning.

6. Analytics and scoring

Metrics, scores, and rankings generated by WaveMention are algorithm-based and intended for informational purposes only. They should not be used as the sole basis for decisions affecting individuals.

7. Opt-out and removal of profiles

Any individual whose public profile is included in the platform may request removal at any time via wavemention.app/check-my-profile. Upon a confirmed removal request, all data is deleted and the profile is blocked from being added again by any customer.

8. Platform dependency

WaveMention relies on third-party social media platforms for data access. We are not responsible for API changes, access limitations, or restrictions imposed by those platforms.

9. Limitation of liability

WaveMention is not liable for decisions made based on data from the platform, incorrect or outdated data, platform-related service interruptions, or any damages arising from customer misuse. The platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

10. Account and access

We reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that are used in a manner inconsistent with the platform's intended purpose.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
